HR Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Fixed-Term Contract
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and people-focused individual with a passion for recruitment and talent attraction. Reporting directly to the Head of People, you will play a key role in attracting, engaging and onboarding talent across the business, while helping to deliver a professional, accurate and timely HR service across our multi-site operation.
The role will primarily be based at our Volkswagen Retailer in Plymouth, however will require occasional travel to our other sites across Devon.
Your main duties will include:

Managing the full recruitment lifecycle, including drafting engaging job adverts, advertising vacancies, screening applications, arranging and conducting interviews, liaising with hiring managers, preparing offer letters and coordinating onboarding documentation.

Supporting the development of recruitment and attraction initiatives to help secure the very best talent for the business.

Building and maintaining relationships with local schools, colleges, universities, training providers and community organisations to promote career opportunities within Murray Group.

Representing the business at careers fairs, recruitment events and apprenticeship initiatives, acting as an ambassador for the Murray Group employer brand.

Coordinating a positive onboarding and induction experience for all new starters.

Keeping up to date with current and forthcoming employment legislation and understanding its potential impact on the business.

Assisting with GDPR compliance and associated processes.

Coordinating company events and supporting our charity partnerships.

Managing and maintaining our online HR systems.

Preparing, processing and issuing HR documentation throughout the employee lifecycle.

Assisting with disciplinary, grievance and other employee relations processes.

Responding professionally and confidentially to employee and management queries.

Monitoring sickness absence, probationary reviews, appraisals, payroll reporting, exit interviews and reference requests.

Providing employee relations support across our multi-site business in partnership with the Head of People.
About You
This role is ideally suited to a hands-on individual looking to develop their experience across the full range of HR activities while taking ownership of recruitment and talent attraction initiatives. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, enthusiasm and interpersonal skills; formal HR qualifications are desirable but not essential.

The anticipated working hours for this role are 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday. There may be flexibility to vary these hours if required.
