All Saints Academy snap up 3 podium places with Greenpower!

The team managed a superb 3rd and 7th place in the first race but then in the second race they placed 2nd and 3rd!

A huge congratulations to the Greenpower team at All Saints Academy Plymouth!

A huge well done to the incredible Greenpower engineering and racing team from All Saints Academy Plymouth, who had an outstanding race day last week—securing an impressive three podium finishes!

Built and raced by talented Year 7 and 8 students, the team's cars are the result of months of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. This project has been proudly supported by Murray Group as part of the national Greenpower initiative, which encourages young people to engage with engineering through electric car design and racing.

In the first race, the team achieved fantastic 3rd and 7th place finishes. They went on to surpass expectations in the second race, taking home 2nd and 3rd place—marking their best performance to date! Adding to their success, the team also received the prestigious Ford Engineering Award.

They are now eagerly awaiting news on whether they’ve qualified for the finals at Goodwood. Fingers crossed for more good news!

What makes this team even more remarkable is its perfect 50/50 gender split. Boys and girls have worked side by side across every area—from driving and building to navigation, coordination, and pit crew responsibilities—truly showcasing the power of teamwork and inclusivity in STEM.

"A massive congratulations to our wonderful GreenPower engineering and racing team who had a spectacular race day last week and gained three podium finishes!  The team which is made up of budding engineers from year 7 and 8 raced the two cars (Interceptor and Slimer) that they have developed over the winter months against 22 other teams at a race venue in West Cornwall.  The team managed a superb 3rd and 7th place in the first race but then in the second race they placed 2nd and 3rd! Our best performance ever.  The team also presented their cars to a panel of judges as part of the Ford Engineering Award, they enthusiastically explained all the innovations that they had made and impressed the judges so much that they won this prestigious award for the second time this season!  The team are hoping they have done enough to reach the International Finals again at Goodwood! A huge thank you to our sponsors and partners CityBus, Babcock, Murray Group and Storm Force Roofing."
