Celebrating fundraising success for our 2024 Charity of the Year, Shelter.

Thank you to our customers and staff who helped us to raise money.

In 2024, Murray Group were really proud to be supporting Shelter, who we carefully selected as our Charity of the Year. 

Shelter is a vital charity who 'exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.'

New research from Shelter shows at least 354,000 people in England, including 161,500 children, spent Christmas without a home - a shocking increase of 14%, 44,500 people, in one year.

How did we help?

We decided to hold a bake sale across Murray Group, where all of staff were eager to get involved and fundraise, and we had charity buckets at each of our sites which were kindly filled by our fantastic customers.

At the start of this year, we had a visit from Julie, the Regional Community Fundraiser across Bristol and the South West, who was delighted to share the news with us that we had raised a total of £409.23 for Shelter. 

She said "We are so truly grateful for your support along with your team and wonderful customers."

We are thrilled to have raised this amount of money for such a brilliant charity, and below shows the ways in which the money that we have raised can help:

  • £40 could fund two webchats, giving expert digital advice for someone facing homelessness
  • £56 could answer two calls to our emergency helpline for two families who are in urgent need of our help and support
  • £157 could pay for legal advice to help a family in crisis keep their home
