Those of you who follow our social media pages may be aware of Kylie, one of our newest team members at Murray Skoda. Kylie has been with us for just over a month as our resident Service Advisor but the story of how she came to work for Murray Group is one that we think is worth telling!
It's not often that blending business and pleasure results in your dream career, but for Kylie, that's exactly what happened. When she initially stepped through the doors of our Valley Road showroom, little did she know that in a few short months, she would be the one offering a warm welcome to our customers from the other side of the desk.
Like many of us, Kylie took the decision to shake her life up a bit after the pandemic. Having moved from Exeter to Plymouth to be closer to family, she was on the lookout for a reliable run-around to get her from A-B. She says that her previous vehicles had all been hand-me-downs so she was keen to secure a car through PCP that offered more reassurance in terms of safety.
The Murray Group came highly recommended to Kylie, from her family who were already customers of our Skoda dealership. She says the glowing reviews they gave of their experience with our Skoda team encouraged her to take a look around our showroom.
And that's exactly what she did! Like all sensible consumers, Kylie had done her research and had narrowed down her choice to a few makes and models. Following her initial visit to Valley Road, she says she was drawn to the Skoda Fabia (who wouldn't be) but was also interested in a *whispers* Dacia too.
By her own admission, Kylie was a particularly fussy customer. Having experienced a tricky tyre blowout in the depths of Winter a few years earlier, she was adamant that she would like the added peace of mind that comes from having a spare wheel. Even though this isn't a feature that comes as standard with a lot of models, our team understood her worries and made it happen.
Business Manager Richard says:
Kylie adds that it was this attention to detail that gave her faith in Murray Skoda and ultimately lead her to choose us over any competitors. She explains that the team were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Even when she specified that she wanted a Fabia in Titan Blue, the team went above and beyond to find one for her.
Fast forward a few months and Kylie found herself searching for a job in the local area. When she happened upon a vacancy at Valley Road for a Service Administrator, she was intrigued. Her previous experience as manager of a well-known coffee and tea retailer meant she knew that she wanted to work in a customer facing role. However, she was also keen to challenge herself and develop her administrative skills too.
Having experienced Murray Skoda's exemplary levels of customer service and teamwork first hand, she says she already knew it was a team she wanted to join. So she was understandably thrilled when she was invited to interview. Despite having been struck down with a combination of Covid and nerves - it was her first interview in 16 years - Kylie says that she couldn't have been made to feel more at ease.
Just over a month later and she is a fully fledged member of the Murray Group team and loving every minute of it. She says the fact that she gets to interact with a regular customer base is something really precious and she has loved getting to know the team. Especially, she says at social events such as their recent bowling evening. Although that may have more to do with the fact that she was part of the winning team!
As well as the fantastic team, Kylie is really enthusiastic about Skoda's vehicles too. She says far from it's stereotypical image as an 'older' brand, it's a brilliant choice for families and younger drivers too. She loves the fact that her Fabia is great value for money, reliable and enjoys the security that comes with a strong brand.
