10th August marks a very special anniversary for Accountant Marie, who has been with Rodgers of Plymouth for thirty years (we know, she absolutely doesn't look old enough!)
Having initially left school to pursue a career in catering but thwarted by a nationwide recession, Marie came to our Brixton dealership - where her brother worked as a mechanic - as a Service Receptionist.
Following the birth of her first child, Marie decided to return to Rodgers of Plymouth (then a Rover retailer) part time as a Sales Receptionist.
The proceeding years saw lots of change - both for the business, which became a Kia franchise - and for Marie, who went on to have a second child.
Marie tells us that the support she received from the Rodgers of Plymouth team as her personal commitments expanded was phenomenal and she has always managed to maintain a good work/life balance.
In fact, she says that even though she never considered herself a 'career' person, once she returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child, she was encouraged to undertake the AAT and become a qualified accountant.
It is this support, alongside the fantastic colleagues - past and present- that Marie has worked with that have made her time at Brixton so memorable, she says.
The people I have worked with over the years have made every day enjoyable. We have grown together, seen each others' families expand, lost pets and kept in touch with those who have moved on. We've shared joy, sorrow and all the other elements of life. We really are a work family.
