“Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.”

Murray Group are excited to be supporting one of our local schools, All Saints Academy, with their commitment to the Greenpower initiative. Involving young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) is imperative to counter the current skills gap in this area. It has been estimated by the Institute of Engineering and Technology that there is a shortfall of over 173,000 workers in the STEM sector which equates to an average of 10 unfilled roles per business in the UK alone.

Murray Group sponsors Greenpower in Plymouth

Becoming involved with the Greenpower team at All Saints Academy and supporting development in STEM subjects is a cause very close to our hearts, as we strive to increase awareness of Automotive career opportunities. Murray Group are committed to supporting and opening up this arena in a diverse, positive, fun and challenging way.

The team at All Saints comprises an equal mix of male and female students from years 7 and 8. Each team member is actively involved in every stage of the challenge, from developing and building to refining and testing their electric cars. Recently, we had the privilege of watching the team engage with the complexities of engineering these vehicles to achieve the best results, and we were impressed with their understanding, engagement and passion for this initiative.

As EV’s represent the future of transportation, these young innovators are preparing to drive the next generation of vehicles whilst developing their STEM skills – and most importantly, having a lot of fun!

Murray Group will continue to support the team as they prepare to race their vehicles from May, wishing them every success and hoping to see the team in the international finals at Goodwood Motor Circuit later in the year.
